As a resident of Canada I have friends that have immigrated from other countries. When I talk to those who are in their 20's from certain parts of the world about vaccinations some will say, "well I had measle, and mumps, and thankfully... I'm alive." I may ask " Would you like your kids to suffer with the disease like you did?" I appreciate that I have friends who can say they had the full blown disease; they can speak to the harm/risk it had on their life. In Canada we don't often get to see these vaccine preventable diseases and so many people don't understand the risk. My friends who have experienced these diseases can be a great resource to the rest of us.
